As a General Partner with Hyde Park Venture Partners, I am passionate about creating continued momentum in the Midwest ecosystem (and other under served capital markets) by investing in world-class entrepreneurs.
I love what I do because I see the multiplying benefits of investing in startups everyday, in what I call the “triple, bottom line.” The triple bottom line is anchored on meaningful capital returns but it’s also equally about creating jobs and opportunities, and driving innovation throughout the Midwest.
Day to day, I hold down our Indy-based office, while my partners, Ira Weiss and Guy Turner, run our Chicago headquarters. We strive to help entrepreneurs and our portfolio companies through our strong emphasis on sales and marketing expertise, go-to market strategy, and talent development. I would challenge anyone to find a more active VC in the Midwest than our team (my biased two cents!).
In the 6+ years I was at ExactTarget we grew the business dramatically from $47 Million to well over $400 Million and from 250 employees to well over 2000, resulting in a successful IPO in 2012 and acquisition by Salesforce.com for $2.7B in 2013.
Immediately prior to joining ExactTarget, I was the Chief Marketing Officer for WebTrends where I led all key aspects of marketing and worked to rebuild the WebTrends brand and was a member of their Board of Directors.
I find that my approach to the B2B and software space is highly unique due to my 10+ year of experience with Fortune 10 CPG Companies. This has given me a unique passion for combining the best of B2B and B2C. I spent 7 years at P&G as an Interactive Marketing pioneer in a variety of high impact brand management and business unit leadership roles. Specifically, after leading the global launches of Crest Whitestrips and Crest Whitening + Scope I was asked to lead the Interactive Marketing Organization for the $17 Billion Beauty Care Division where I was responsible for online media, CRM, and Web.
Following P&G, I joined the Coca-Cola Company where I served for approximately 2 years as Vice-President of Worldwide Interactive Marketing. In this role, I worked closely with the executive team and top global leaders to lead the Coca-Cola Company’s efforts to develop a holistic interactive marketing plan and common platform.
